This talk will be presented by Licensed Antietam National Battlefield Guide and Founder of the National Museum of Civil War Medicine, Gordon Dammann. Scenes from seven movies will be shown and discussion will sort out medical truth and fiction presented in Hollywood.
This event will take place in the Town Hall, second floor.

Come out and celebrate the 150th Anniversary of Tolson’s Chapel. Events planned feature keynote speaker, Dr. Hari Jones, USCT encampment, music with the Spears Sisters, food, activities and much more! The day-long festival will be held at Tolson’s Chapel, 111 East High Street.

Bulk items are to be placed out beside your household trash on Tuesday, October 18th after 4pm, for pickup on Wednesday.
Bulk items will only be taken if they are on the ground, Apple Valley will not remove items from trucks or trailers.

Historical Society President Vernell Doyle will present a talk on Dr. Biggs. Dr. Biggs practiced medicine for fifty-three years in Sharpsburg during which time he had over two thousand obstetrical cases. We will have a transcript of Dr. Bigg "baby book" if you would like to look up a name. We will also have other documents and office records to share. Dr. Biggs was the originator of the plan of which Antietam National Cemetery was laid out and served as general superintendent during its construction. Join us to learn more about this prominent Sharpsburg resident.
