Join the Town of Sharpsburg as we ring in the Christmas season with our 3rd annual Christmas Tree Lighting! Located in the square, come out as we enjoy music, cookies and hot cocoa, and much, much more! Santa has been invited and the elves that we have spoken to are pretty sure he will be able to join us again this year. Come out for this yearly tradition
23,000 candles, one for each soldier killed, wounded or missing at the Battle of Antietam will shine bright.
The event is held by the Antietam National Battlefield, in cooperation with the American Business Women's Association and the Washington County Convention and Visitor's Bureau.
The event opens to the public at 6pm. The main entrance to the event is Richardson Avenue off Maryland Route 34.
The driving tour is approximately 5 miles long. Vehicles are to use parking lights only, to the extent technology permits this, and continue through the event without stopping. Visitors are prohibited from walking the tour route. Event brochures will be distributed at the event entrance and contributions will also be accepted.

Come out and celebrate with your friends and neighbors as the Town of Sharpsburg lights the town Christmas Tree!
The evening will include musical selections by local groups and townspeople, a craft area for the children, cookies and hot chocolate.
The town Christmas ornament, featuring the Christ Reformed United Church of Christ will be available for purchase for $10.
Bring an ornament to place on the tree.
Donations of non-perishable food will be accepted for the South County Food Pantry. Donations of new, unwrapped toys will also be accepted for the Marine Corps Reserves Toys for Tots Program.
In the event of bad weather, the event will be cancelled.
